On September 24, 2026, Community Housing Capital deployed $20M in NMTCs to support homeownership development in Georgia and Florida by Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership and Pensacola Habitat for Humanity. The NMTC-funded loans will expand each nonprofit developer’s capacity and bridge affordability gaps.
With the support of New Markets Tax Credits, Champlain Housing Trust is creating 30 permanently affordable condominium homes for sale to low-income households in Burlington, helping address one of Vermont's most pressing challenges: access to affordable homeownership.
UPDATE: In July 2025, New Markets Tax Credits were made a permanent part of the U.S. tax code! NMTCs have proven to be an effective tool for increasing access to affordable homeownership, but despite its history of success, in 2024, less than 2% of the $5 billion of NMTCs awarded by the CDFI Fund was for affordable homeownership development.
