Laurie Auer Leritz

COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR

Laurie Auer Leritz brings more than 15 years of compliance, corporate, and banking experience to Smith NMTC Associates, LLC. Working with external borrowers and affiliates, Laurie systematically tracks and monitors all loan agreements, ensuring federal tax compliance throughout the duration of the loan. Skilled in finance and accounting matters, Laurie is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the firm’s records and reporting system as it relates to New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) regulations for borrowers, Community Development Entities, and investors. Since her time at Smith NMTC, she has managed the compliance process in over 55 deals for more than 140 QALICBS.

Prior to joining the firm in 2012, Laurie worked for May Merchandising Company and May Department Stores International, swiftly moving up the ranks from senior accountant to divisional vice president in charge of compliance, planning, and expense control. There she developed and implemented a global compliance program focused on vendor certification, production facility compliance, and remediation plans. She was recognized twice by leadership with awards for Outstanding Support Executive. Laurie’s background also includes work at Bank of America Corporation where she served as an accountant and investment performance analyst, evaluating the performance of various funds, accounts, and programs.

She regularly volunteers at her children’s schools, and she currently holds the position of Treasurer for the Mothers Club at St. Louis Priory School.

Laurie received her Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Truman State University.
