Jeanette Reynolds
COMMUNICATIONS & APPLICATIONS DIRECTOR
Jeanette Reynolds is a purpose-driven professional with nearly 20 years of experience in program management and organizational development, with expertise in strategic planning and community engagement.
As Communications & Applications Director at Smith NMTC Associates, LLC, Jeanette serves as an integral member of the core New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs) allocation application team. Since joining the Smith NMTC team in early 2023, Jeanette has helped submit four successful NMTC applications totaling $255 million in NMTC allocation award. Her multifaceted role at the company encompasses supporting business development initiatives, ensuring compliance, managing impact data, and crafting communication pieces.
Prior to joining the Smith NMTC team, Jeanette was Executive Director of the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center, a 75-acre nonprofit facility dedicated to serving 13 counties in Virginia’s Appalachian region through creative placemaking and skills-building programs for both youth and adults. In addition to successfully navigating pandemic challenges, she implemented systems and tools for greater efficiency, and increased board of directors membership and engagement.
Her career as a nonprofit executive has perfectly prepared Jeanette to support Smith NMTC’s work: She has extensive experience writing grants, monitoring and evaluating program impact, developing assets to effectively communicate an organization’s value and impact, and has managed complex stakeholder relationships—among the many different hats that nonprofit professionals wear.
Jeanette’s commitment to housing access and community development began during her service as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Fiji where she managed programs and partnerships for a community designed to provide secure housing for families displaced by natural disasters and conflict. Her work connected residents with economic and educational opportunities.
While earning a master’s degree from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, Jeanette focused on research related to female-headed households, social capital, and collective efficacy. She has also earned a bachelor’s degree cum laude in communication from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and holds a professional certificate in nonprofit management from the San Antonio Area Foundation, in partnership with Our Lady of the Lake University.
Dedicated to making positive impacts both professionally and personally, Jeanette serves on a nonprofit board of directors that serves the state of Missouri and volunteers weekly with a local organization in St. Louis.
