A new center for economic growth in St. Louis County is getting a boost from New Markets Tax Credits. In December, HRIF, a subsidiary of STL Partnership, deployed a $10 million NMTC allocation toward the development of the Urban League Plaza in Dellwood, Missouri.

UPDATE: In July 2025, New Markets Tax Credits were made a permanent part of the U.S. tax code! NMTCs have proven to be an effective tool for increasing access to affordable homeownership, but despite its history of success, in 2024, less than 2% of the $5 billion of NMTCs awarded by the CDFI Fund was for affordable homeownership development.
