Smith NMTC Associates, LLC provides consulting and transaction facilitation services to developers, lenders, investors, and Community Development Entities (CDEs) in New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) transactions. From allocation application development, through post-closing accounting and compliance, our staff’s knowledge and expertise in NMTC related issues, paired with our ability to structure deals using NMTCs in non-traditional areas provide added value to our clients.
We provide services that are unique in the industry, structuring and facilitating NMTC transactions using smaller QLICIs while keeping transaction costs low and benefits to QALICBs high.
Smith NMTC Associates is part owner of and manages HFHI-SA NMTC I LLC, a CDE, with and for Habitat for Humanity International, a recipient of $103 million of New Markets Tax Credits. It is also the owner of Community Opportunities Fund, LLC, a CDE focused on broader community building.
Established in 2006, the company is staffed by four attorneys, an MBA and two certified public accountants. We have worked with Habitat for Humanity International, Inc., Teach for America, the University of Missouri and other nonprofit organizations.
