TABOR BURKE, VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

 

Tabor Burke, Vice President of Operations, joined Smith NMTC Associates, LLC as Project Manager in January 2010 streamlining the company’s compliance process and creating greater organizational efficiencies. With an eye for process improvement and strong implementation skills, Tabor quickly transitioned from assisting with operations to leading day-to-day operations as Vice President starting in December 2011.

An attorney with private firm and corporate legal experience , as well as entrepreneurial success, Tabor manages the overall operations of the company, including the NMTC compliance work for transactions totaling more than $275 million in allocation, and writes New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) applications.

Tabor earned her J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1994, and received the Scholars in Law Award. In May 1994, she joined Ziercher & Hocker, P.C. (nka Husch Blackwell LLP) as an Associate in the areas of Real Estate, Corporate, Tax and Litigation. In October 1997, she left private practice to become Senior Counsel in the real estate division of The May Department Stores Company. When Macy’s purchased May in 2006, Tabor used this opportunity to start her own business. Motivated by the needs of her two children who had multiple food allergies, she developed and launched a line of allergen free foods for children and achieved nationwide distribution of her products in over 1500 stores before selling the business in 2009.

In addition to her legal and business background, Tabor also has experience with Habitat for Humanity St. Louis. She served on their board from 1996 – 2001, filled a term as their General Counsel in 1997, and was a Law Committee Member from 1993.
